Birthing From Within in West Jordan

Birthing From Within
Teaching Location: West Jordan
Instructor: Raven Haymond
Raven comes to birth work after years in more academic shoes. A certified birth doula and current vice president of the Utah Doula Association, Raven traded in teaching university students about thesis statements and sentence fluency for helping birthing families prepare for the rite of passage that is birth. Mother to four vibrant little ones, Raven finds great joy and fulfillment in supporting birthing families both as a mentor in the classroom and as a doula in the birth room. Birth is such a personal journey, and, as such, deserves personal treatment. Birthing from Within® childbirth classes do more than flood you with information about birth–they guide you along a journey of discovery. Each class is tailored to the needs of the current parents and emphasis is placed on personal experience versus specific medical outcomes. Classes are always multi-sensory giving opportunity for lively discussion and many hands-on activities. Birthing from Within classes do not address students with a “one size fits all” approach. Only you know what you need to give birth. Our classes are designed to help you on that path of personal self-discovery, empowerment and birth satisfaction.

Here's what you can expect in a Birthing from Within class:
-Each class begins with a different pain-coping practice that not only works to bring comfort during the birth process but can also be incorporated as a mindfulness practice within everyday life.
-Classes include comprehensive education about what to expect during labor and birth.
-Common interventions are understood and students discover how to advocate for themselves and work with their healthcare team.
-We get creative as we look inside ourselves and use tools like journaling and art to tap into our true self-expression.
-We honor the birth partner by not only giving them tools to support the birthing mother, but addressing their unique role and experience.
-The postpartum period is discussed. Baby care and breastfeeding are addressed along with common physical, emotional and relationship expectations.

Schedule for the West Jordan location:
-September 7th-October 5th
-December 14th-January 11th

Cost:
$225.00 per couple
